SaveOJB: D’Banj, 2face, Ini Edo yet to make donation

Confidants of Babatunde Okungbowa, popularly known as OJB has debunked rumours that Koko master, D’Banj has made a donation of N7M for the kidney transplant of  the ailing music producer. They also said African queen crooner, 2face and scandals-prone actress cum singer, Ini Edo are yet to contribute as well. OJB produced the world acclaimed African queen song that launched 2face Idibia to the global audience.

One of the friends of OJB who does not want to be named lambasted the artistes for earning cheap publicity from the producer ill health. He said, “ it is a shame that these peoples that OJB helped to be great in life chose to earn cheap publicity from his misfortune. Can you imagine that they never contributed nor pay a visit to him, rather their publicists are on the social media tweeting ‘D’Banj made N7m donation, Ini Edo gave N2M and 2face has promised to write off the bill etc. heaven will judge them”.

Another friend of OJB added, “I am not disappointed in them; we know who they are and that they love the limelight but I will say it is unfortunate. I am here with OJB and I can say all these fake donations are more threatening to him than the kidney problem. My fear is that genuine peoples are turned away by all these lies but with God on our side, OJB will live”.

A bittered friend of the ailing producer also send the following broadcast from his blackberry, “the Lagos state government has suspended any form of assistance to OJB Jezreel due to verification issues stemming from all the hype about how much was raised on his behalf. In their (government) view, he does not need the help of the state…. See what you helped to destroy…kill”. The friend thus listed the false donation against some of the artiste names with a bold caption ‘NOT TRUE’ against them. They included 2face (N1.5M), D’Banj (N7M), Wizkid (N3M) and Olamide (N1M)”.

The aggrieved entertainer thus added, “your ‘FACT-LESS HYPE” of those who have contributed nothing so far in this matter is preventing others willing to help from doing so. If your name is used falsely as an artiste/entertainer, it is the duty of your management to stand up and clear the wrong impression… your silence only means you are trying to reap where you have not sown…clear your name now”.

OJB who is battling with Kidney problem needs N16M  for the transplant.

Contributions can still be made via BABATUNDE OKUNGBOWA UBA ACCOUNT NUMBER: 1015075120 OR OKUNGBOWA BABATUNDE ZENITH BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER: 1004186282, SORT CODE: 057150628, BRANCH: MARINA 2.

Supreme Court to Reconsider Case of Woman Fired for Being 'Irresistible'

A woman fired from her job for being too "irresistible" will get another chance at her sex-discrimination lawsuit after the Iowa Supreme Court ruled this week to reconsider the case.
Melissa Nelson says she spent 10 happy years working as a dental hygienist for Dr. James Knight until he blindsided her with a pink slip, claiming Nelson was a threat to his marriage.
The all-male Iowa State Supreme Court ruled in December that Knight was within his legal rights when he fired Nelson because the termination was not based on gender.
Knight's attorney says the decision to terminate Nelson was legal, telling ABC News he believes the court will reaffirm its decision because "the law has not changed."
"Dr. Knight's dismissal of Mrs. Nelson was perfectly legal according to all of the well-established case law not only in Iowa but in every other jurisdiction that has considered similar claims," attorney Stu Cochrane said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Nelson hopes that even if the law hasn't changed, how the judges interpret it will.
"I can tell you she was surprised and delighted by the news that the Iowa Supreme Court has withdrawn its earlier ruling," Nelson's attorney, Paige Fiedler, told ABC News in a statement. "Not only does this breathe new life into her court case, it eliminates what many of us believed was a harmful legal and misguided precedent."

Langtang violence: residents desert communities

Residents of villages in the Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau are deserting their communities in droves, following fears that more attacks are underway in the villages.
The Chairman of the Local Government, Mr Naanman Darko, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Friday.
``There are fears of more attacks after what took place yesterday, so the villagers are already running helter-skelter to practically everywhere they think is safe,’’ Darko said.
NAN reports that the three villages of Bolgang, Magama and Karkashi had been under intense attacks by gunmen who laid siege on the communities early on Thursday, killing many villagers, many of whom were on their way to their farms.
Also fleeing their community are residents of Takbol, a village on the borders of the three affected communities.
The assailants are said to be aggrieved over the theft of their cattle.

Darko, who told NAN that 32 people had been killed, said that some of the victims included students writing the NECO examinations.
``It is the farming season and people should be busy. Students are also writing examinations, but all of that has been halted.
``People have abandoned their villages, farms and other property in search of safety. It is a bad situation that could have more devastating effects. There is the fear of hunger in the very near future.
``Early this morning, I called the Police Commissioner (Mr Chris Olakpe), who has promised to send more mobile policemen to help men of the STF,’’ he said.
Brig.-Gen. Henry Ayoola, Commander of the Special Task Force (STF) maintaining peace in Plateau, has confirmed the attacks, saying, however, that order had been restored to the communities.
Ayoola also confirmed the killing of many people but said that exact figures were not immediately available.
He harped on the need for a more permanent security arrangement to save the area from constant invasion by gunmen.
``Such incessant attacks have affected our economy and every other facet of our lives, markets are hardly opened and school children are scared of stepping out. No one is safe even in their homes,’’ he stated.

Olympian dies at 92

Former Olympic champion Alain Mimoun, who won the marathon for France at the Melbourne Games in 1956, has died at the age of 92, the French Athletics Federation said on Friday.

Algeria-born Mimoun was nicknamed "The Zatopek Shadow", following three second-place finishes behind Czech Emil Zatopek at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics.

But he managed to make the most of his rival's rare failure in Melbourne to claim gold.

Around 50 athletics stadiums in France are named after Mimoun, who also won four Mediterranean Games gold medals and 33 national titles during his running years.
