The Police in Anambra on Monday said a corps member, Mr Julius Oghoroko, was shot on Sunday by unknown gunmen.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Emeka Chukwuemeka (ASP), told newsmen that Oghoroko, who hailed from Delta, bled profusely and was taken to the state teaching hospital in Awka at about 10p.m.
``The command is investigating the incident and assures that the culprits will be brought to book when caught.
``We have beefed up security around the camp in Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area, because of the incident’’, the PPRO said.
The medical doctor on duty, Kingsley Azugo, said the condition of the corps member was stable.
``They came in around 10p.m. and the patient was heading into coma because of the enormous loss of blood before he was revived.
``The injury was at the right bicep of the muscle, that is the bullet entrance, but the exit was at the media bicep measuring about eight centimetres’’, he said.
