Speaking in Lagos, Clinical Director, St. Nicholas Hospital, Dr. Ebun Bamboye who identified high blood pressure and diabetes as the predisposing factors of kidney disease said 10 per cent of the country estimated 160 million people may be suffering from the disease.

Bamgboye who spoke during a programme organised by the Hospital to mark the World Kidney Day with the theme: “Chronic kidney disease, CKD, and ageing,” stressed the need for people to pay more attention to their kidneys.

Stating that kidney disease can be prevented if the predisposing factors are controlled, he advised Nigerians to take enough water as it helps the kidneys.
“Prevention is better and we advise people to take enough water, avoid bleaching creams because studies have shown that people who bleach are more prone to kidney disease."
