Liza Minnelli reacts to Ellen's joke at Oscar

LIZA Minnelli has revealed what she really thought about Ellen’s controversial joke at the Oscars.

Ellen was accused of being transphobic (by some keyboard warriors) after pointing to Minnelli in the crowd during her Oscars opening monologue and saying, “Hello to the best Liza Minnelli impersonator I’ve ever seen. Good job, sir.”

But Minnelli, a showbiz legend, told paparazzi overnight that the joke didn’t upset her.

“I think she thought it would be funny,” the 67-year-old said.

“But she never stopped after she said it and said, ‘My friend Liza Minnelli.’ I think it went a little astray on her but I don’t think that she meant any harm at all, and she’s a wonderful lady and I think she did great.”
