12-yr-old remanded for murder in Lagos

A 12-year-old boy (names withheld) was remanded in Oregun Correctional Home for Boys over alleged murder of his friend, Musa Tajudeen.

The accused, who resides with his parents at in Amukoko committed the act on January 31, 2013 at about 8:45pm at Townhall Street, Amukoko.

Tajudeen, the deceased, had a fight with the accused where he wanted to cut him with a machete but was stopped by his friends.

The accused went to the victim’s street hours later, where he stabbed him on the left side of his stomach with a knife.

Before the victim could be rushed to the hospital, he died, the prosecutor, Inspector Nwosu George said.

After listening to the prosecutor, the magistrate, Mr. Olanrewaju Olatunji, ruled that the accused being a minor, be remanded in the special correctional centre for boys at Oregun pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and adjourned the matter till  April 4, 2014.
