Taraba's N10m donation can undermine our work- EFCC

Taraba's acting Gov, Umar
Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, gave reasons it rejected a N10 million donation from Taraba State Government.
The Taraba State Government offered the money to the agency in Abuja, last weekend.

The commission said it considered the gesture improper.
The Spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, told Vanguard that as umpire that investigates economic and financial crimes, accepting such a gift could undermine its capacity to do its work if any official of the state government had an issue to be investigated.

He said: “It is not in our character to accept any gift, donation or gratification as an agency involved in the investigation and prosecution of economic and financial crimes in the country. It can undermine our work.”
