There was no clue as to how a fight started between the two in which the victim lost his finger, the prosecutor only mentioned that the act was unlawful.
According to the charge, Mukaila on the May 17 at 5:30pm along Railway Line Iponri, Lagos, did with intent to cause permanent deformity on one Emmanuel Oluwafemi unlawfully bite off one of his fingers and caused him bodily harm and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 243 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
The accused was granted a N100,000 bail with two sureties by the magistrate, Mr. E. O. Ogunkanmi, while the matter was adjourned to April 22.
In the same court, two men were arraigned over alleged breaching of the peace, stealing, involvement in cult management and assault.
Facing a 10-count charge, Akeem Adio and Olojo Adesina and others at large on February 11 at Ajayi Crowther Secondary School gate, off Akoka area of Bariga, conducted themselves in a manner to cause breach of peace by playing game of chance for money in a public place.
Adio and Adesina identified as touts did conspire to steal five phones worth N65,000, a PSP electronic game worth N10,500 and some unstated amount of money.
Aside stealing, they also assisted in managing an unlawful society using same to intimidate and assault innocent citizens, of which Usman Balogun and Omole Oluwatumininu happened to be victims, the prosecutor, Inspector Asuu Feddy said.
He said the defendants’ acts contravenes the provisions of Sections 166(c), 409, 285, 41, 171, 286 and 170 of the 2011 state’s criminal law.
Meanwhile, the accused counsel applied for their bail on the ground that they were victims of circumstance.
Magistrate E. O. Ogunkanmi granted each accused bail of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case for May 6.
