Fast-rising hip hop singer, Joshua Iniyezo popularly known as Solidstar has been endorsed as Super Eagles ambassador.
The deal was signed with the Nigerian Football Supporters Club recently.
According to Mr. Paul Cole Chiori,
manager of Achievas Entertainment, a record label owned by the artiste,
the deal will have Solidstar record and perform the official Super
Eagles theme song for the Brazil 2014 world cup. He said: “The song is
meant to unite and inspire the players on and off the pitch when the
Mundial kicks off later in the year.”
Explaining the choice of Solidstar, Dr.
Rafiu Oladipo, president of the supporters club said: “We needed someone
who was passionate about Nigerian football and who has that gyration in
his voice and who the new and old generation can relate to and it was
just Solidstar that came to mind.”
The Skibo crooner relished the endorsement and promised to give it his best.
“I am humbled by Dr. Oladipo’s kind
words. I promise that I will not disappoint him and the entire country. I
will give the project my best. All I can say is that Nigerians should
expect something gyrating, something that will lift the spirit of the
whole players, coaching crew, the supporters and the whole country,” he
assured.
Solidstar won the best new artiste at
the Nigeria Music Video Award(NMVA) in 2010 for his hit single One in a
Million, and has gone ahead to receive several other awards.
