One in every two council
staff in Ebonyi state parades a fake degree certificate. They are also unfit
for the job.
This allegation was made
by a lawmaker in the state, Barr. Eni Uduma Chima (Afikpo South West) during
deliberations on the findings of 9-man Committee set up by the house to probe
the Local government administration in the state. He alleged that over 50
percent of the Principal Officers working in the sixty four development centres
and thirteen local government councils in the state gained employment with fake
degree certificates.
“We have made personal confirmation; we cannot be complaining of unemployment when people who are not fit for employment are having those employments. We have discovered a man working with the certificate of a woman and people with certificate from hotels. We have done independent investigations on this matter,” Chima said.
The House unanimously adopted the recommendations of the Hon. Chris Usulor chaired Committee on Ebonyi Local government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Parts of the recommendations include,“All principal staff of the Local
government system who possess questionable certificates and or credentials
should be dismissed from service after proper verification and evidence of
forgery is established against such officers.“We have made personal confirmation; we cannot be complaining of unemployment when people who are not fit for employment are having those employments.
