Man gets life for love rival murder

Detectives have welcomed the life prison sentence handed to a jealous boyfriend who lured a love rival to his death.

Jamie Curtis, from Ynysawdre, Bridgend, stabbed Kevin Hier, 50, in the neck last October.

Cardiff Crown Court heard Curtis went berserk after learning girlfriend Lorraine Davies, 34, was going to leave him for Mr Hier.

The defendant sent a text message from his girlfriend's mobile phone to Mr Hier asking his victim to "come and get me". Mr Hier went to his lover's flat only to find Curtis brandishing a kitchen knife.

After grabbing him in a headlock and stabbing Mr Hier in the neck, he then dumped the body inside his victim's mother's house.

After pleading guilty to murder, Curtis was handed a life term of imprisonment with a minimum of 23 years.
